Chez Robineau

View across the courtyard of Chez Robineau

Chez Robineau is our home and we are delighted to offer two exceptional gîtes on site.

Both gîtes are detached and not overlooked. They each have extensive outdoor space with barbecues and open outlooks over gardens and fields. The gîtes have thick stone walls, so stay relatively cool in summer and warm off season, but we do also provide fans in every bedroom, wood for the log burners and radiators to assist with your comfort whatever time of year you visit. Bed linen, bath towels, pool towels, tea towels, etc. are all provided as standard, and we start you off with a small welcome pack including the main essentials of French life: wine, bread, milk and cheese. Indeed, we hope to provide a first-class service to all our visitors.

The Swimming Pool at Chez Robineau

The swimming pool measures approximately 12m x 6m and is up to 1.7m deep. It is heated and generally available from mid-May to late September. We have been very fortunate not to have had water restrictions that would have prevented use of the pool in recent years. We have no formal restrictions on times of use, although obviously some daily maintenance is required, which we aim to do as unobtrusively as possible.

The pool is located a short walk away from both gîtes, surrounded by generous stone terracing and tall hedging. With a maximum of 12 guests across the two gîtes, there is no shortage of space. The pool house offers a shaded relaxing space during the day, or indeed in the evening, with candles, fairy lights and power.

There is ample parking available, at the door of each property and also in a large barn for shade, if required. We are happy to provide access to electricity, light and secure storage, should you wish to travel by motorbike, or a classic car perhaps. The pool house has some gym equipment and there are bicycles free for you to borrow, if you wish to be a little more active.

All of this lies only a couple of kilometres from the town of Civray with family-run boulangeries and boucheries, restaurants and bars clustered around the market square.

We have plenty of footpaths, cycle rides and canoe-able rivers nearby: a local map and recommendations of routes are provided in both gîtes. If you want to travel further afield, Chez Robineau is located pretty much centrally within Poitou-Charente and in easy reach of Poitiers, Angoulême, Limoges and Niort. Bordeaux, La Rochelle and the Loire valley are all close enough for a day trip. Check us out on Google Maps.

If you have any questions, whether that's before you book, before you arrive or while you are here, please do not hesitate to ask. Similarly, when booking a gîte, please let us know if you have any special needs - we will always do our best to accommodate.
